Applebee’s Newark has been our longest running restaurant partner, supporting Link students for over 17 years. Applebee’s Newark has donated thousands of food servings to our Taste of Newark guests, made generous financial donations to support Link’s mission, and created a special place for Link as they built their Newark site, serving as a meeting place for school leaders, trustees, and staff. https://www.applebees.com/en/menu
Jennifer and Carey Hamilton Sr '71
Carey Hamilton is a graduate of Link’s very first class (Class of 1971) and has recruited numerous food establishments to join him at Taste of Newark events to support his alma mater. In 1991, he established a gourmet catering business with his wife Jennifer where all food items are homemade from scratch and use fresh, high quality ingredients. GOLDEN KRUST CARIBBEAN RESTAURANT
Golden Krust is a national name that famously serves delicious and authentic Caribbean (Jamaican) cuisine made from scratch. Lorna Brissett-Romans is the owner of two local franchises and has supported Link’s initiatives from her Newark location for many years.
THE GREEN CHICPEA (NEWARK)

The Webers operated the successful NYC House of Pita but with three growing children, sold the business in 2009. In 2013, the couple returned to their passion, and set up shop in Newark. The Green Chicpea is A Taste of Newark guest favorite thanks to Ronit’s collection of homemade family recipes that includes delicious and healthy Middle Eastern and North African cuisine.
KEEPING YOU SWEET
April Harris-Holmes' desserts have been "keeping A Taste of Newark sweet" for many years. April is a Howard University graduate, former member of the platinum-selling girl-group Seduction and winner of the 2019 Girl Scout Cookie Challenge. In 2011, after her mother Georgia passed away, April began making her mother’s recipes as a healing process but with a healthier twist – rich and decadent desserts that are all-natural and gluten-free! https://www.keepingyousweet.com/
NICO KITCHEN + BAR
Kathy Vermilye and the NICO staff have worked with Link for many years as a generous restaurant and venue partner ensuring that the food and event operations for every Taste of Newark are exemplary. Due to COVID 19, NICO’s Restaurant is temporarily closed to the public, however, as a 2020 Food Donation partner, NICO will prepare meals for the St. James Social Service Corporation in Newark.
